Ember 1.0.1 Update Available
We’ve released a minor update to Ember that fixes a few bugs that have been reported. As much as we’d have liked to include some new features, we’re not quite ready with them yet and a couple of the bugs reported were some real doozies, thus the update.
The first interesting bug reported had to do with Ember crashing right after filling in the credentials on the first screen and never getting past that part. Yikes, that’s not good. Turns out, the lobby on some Campfire accounts is a bit different than the multitude of accounts we tested with and so our parsing logic needed to be updated to account for the differences.
The second interesting bug reported was a problem when trying to join a room over the cellular network with certain carriers. Ember would join just fine over WiFi but would fail to join over cellular. Apparently some carriers modify the content coming over their networks and so again, our parsing logic failed when presented with content that was different than what we were expecting to get.
In this update we’ve also fixed the bug where unicode characters were not being decoded and displayed properly.
A special thanks goes to Joreal Whitfield, Jan-Hendrik Hühne and Roger Booth for reporting these bugs and for the patience in helping us get them resolved. Thank you.
Now that we’ve got these bugs squashed, we’re excited about the next feature update for Ember and are working hard to get it completed soon.
