That thing we call a Blog

These posts are a collection of our thoughts and ramblings about iPhone application
development. We hope from time to time they strike up some inspiration for you.

How we became Overcommitted.

All of us were busy, working typical 9 to 5 jobs, side projects, spouses, kids, etc. For awhile we’ve known that we wanted to join forces and begin to work on something for the iPhone.  Each of us had our own lists of ideas, but the timing never seemed to be right.  About 45 days ago things began to change, in spite of our busy schedules we decided the time was right… it was time to be become overcommitted.

We enrolled in Apple’s developer program, filed our LLC paper work, opened our bank account and literally within three days things were off and running, we were officially Overcommitted, LLC.

The Application

All of us are fans of Campfire™, it’s one of our most regularly used web apps.  Yet none of us were too crazy about the iPhone web based version that 37signals put out last year.  Mobile Safari isn’t that great at rendering javascript at the speed that Campfire requires.  For us, there was a big need for a native Campfire client on the iPhone.  This would be the app that would ultimately drive us to form Overcommitted and begin this new adventure in iPhone development.

We are now in active beta testing of our Campfire client and we hope to release it in a few short weeks on the AppStore.  In preparation for its release we plan to share our experiences in developing this app, from design decisions to practical nuts and bolts about our development process.  We’ve learned a lot from people that have shared their experiences in app development.  We hope in some small way we can do the same.
